Living in the small village of Puerta de San Marcos has been like a dream come true for us (Drew and Wendy Daniel). It’s a special place. The people of the village were moved to this mountain side seven years ago when they were displaced by a new government-built lake. They had lived and farmed together for generations. They’re all related, and get along well together.

A Happy Village, But…

People are happy with what they have in the new village. They have electricity, school for their children, church, and water — SOMETIMES! Have you ever experienced NO WATER for four days? As I write, that’s what we’re experiencing — again. The government is doing its best to fix the water problem, but frankly the water shortages are just happening more frequently and for longer stretches. With daytime temperatures reaching 95 degrees, patience is wearing thin. The people are running short on water for drinking and cooking. Bathing can wait!

Help Us Help Them

Currently, there are no water storage tanks to get us through the dry spells. With your help, we’d like to change that. One 4,000-gallon above-ground plastic water storage tank will take care of the problem. When the government water isn’t flowing, our neighbors will at least be able to fill buckets with water. Four thousand gallons is a lot of buckets!

Almost There

We have agreements in place for a water hauling company to regularly fill the tank with fresh water and to maintain the tank site. All we need now is $1,807.99 to purchase the water storage tank and have it delivered. How much can you give to this project?
